As previously stated, Plugins and core plugins are the primary way to build up a Digimon in a selected way.
There are two types of plugins: side ones and core ones; the sides are enumerated from I to IV and can only be set in their corresponding position, and they usually improve a set stat when they come in pairs, with the exception being crafter plugins that you have to set 4 of the same to get the bonus stat or effect, and after you put the 4 sides, you can set a core plugin that has a selected effect and between one to two big stats that can be empowered if they are the same element that the Digimon you're equipping that core.
Both sides of plugins and core plugins can measure their strength by the color of the plugins being gold the stronger ones (that can be farmed or crafted) and the stars on the plugin being 5 stars the maximum, you can strengthen the plugin with gold till lvl 20 (and 25 with the orange gem upgrade) and strong even more every stat with cards you can get from the element challenge.
After you hit lvl 20 on a 5-star plugin you can enhance them to lvl 25 and change them to red quality with 25 orange gems giving one extra stat (that can be changed for 5 orange gems and 20,000 Gold).
The last upgrade to side plugins is the element enhance, and you can get it in various events and as a reward in real-time PVP, with these orbs, you can improve a selected stat to a specifict element, if is equipped to the same element Digimon you get improve stats and if you managed to get all the stats on the same element the main stat in that plugin will increase their power.
In new updates, you can also upgrade core plugins to red quality for 90 orange gems, and it will give you an HP% boost stat and the possibility to add talents up to 4 of them, which are 1 to 3 levels extra (to upgrade your talent tree).
